Citrus Australia welcomes Sahar Eid as its new biosecurity manager to replace Jess Lye who finishes with Citrus Australia to take up a new role in Agriculture Victoria.

Sahar has a background in agricultural science and a PHD in plant pathology from Washington State University, with research and teaching experience across both the US and Australia.

Since 2016, she has been at Box Hill Institute where she helped shape the Bachelor of Biosecurity Science program and developed a range of micro-credentials (short online courses) on plant pests and diseases and biosecurity surveillance and monitoring.

Based in Melbourne, Sahar will spend her first few weeks working with Jess Lye on a handover of the CitrusWatch project and other biosecurity activities involved in the role.

Sahar is keen to learn more about citrus production and looks forward to meeting growers and stakeholders to improve her knowledge of the citrus industry.

Sahar has always been driven by a desire to connect science with people, so joining Citrus Australia as biosecurity manager is a chance for her to take years of research and teaching and put it to work directly for growers on the ground.
